The Elf in stock?and it is interactive hide-and-seek game play is continuing to grow right into a beloved holiday tradition among families with young kids, with the tiny toy turning up in creative spots every morning and becoming Santa Claus’ eyes and ears throughout the Christmas season. Only one Illinois mom reached her limit this year, and came up with an innovative method to shed her Elf responsibilities while still keeping the special moment alive for her kids.

Christy Heins, of?North Aurora, Illinois, shared her exit strategy in a hilarious Facebook post on Dec. 3 – attaching a letter Santa wrote that informed her two young daughters their elf, George, was retiring.

“I realize that some people truly enjoy setting up elaborate scenes with their elf, but for me, clearing up after 3 children along with a dog is sufficient,” Heins explained in her post. “I?forgot to maneuver him more times than I can even count, and I work close a few times trying to sneakily move him after the kids were already awake.”

She continued, “Today my pastor’s sermon was about how advent should be a season of feeling PEACEFUL and cute little George wasn’t exactly falling into that category for me. I also never was good about while using elf in an effort to improve my kids’ behavior so he really didn’t have an impact on their behavior whatsoever.”

The note, that was printed on “From the Desk of?Santa Claus” letterhead, let Heins’ kids down easy. “I crafted this letter bearing in mind that I wanted to keep the Christmas magic alive, and also keeping in mind that lots of my kids’ friends will be referring to their elves still hiding and doing funny things,” she said.

So, yeah. This really is happening!! George Elf has been our elf in stock for the past 3 years, but after a short…

It read:

Greetings from the North Pole! I’m very busy get yourself ready for Christmas, but I did wish to take time to write you an important letter about your scout elf, George Elf.

I think you’ll be pleased as peppermint to understand that George Elf were built with a very, special Christmas wish this year. He’s enjoyed you three girls a lot over the years that his only want Christmas this season was to be considered a REAL toy in your house. The thing is, scout elves (elves who fly back and forth towards the North Pole every night to report to me) are something type of new. Whenever your parents were little, they did not have scout elves like George Elf. A few years ago, I’d a great idea and wanted to use scout elves that helped me to decide who’s around the Nice List and who’s around the Naughty List every year. George Elf and all the other scout elves have been a great benefit! Some scout elves LOVE their jobs and wish to keep flying backwards and forwards every night. But just like people, each elf is different. George Elf wanted more than almost anything to be used just like a real toy. He saw the excitement and happiness inside your eyes each morning whenever you found him, and he wanted you to definitely have the ability to touch him and play with him much like other toys. He asked me if I could make this wish come true for him this Christmas, and I said YES! I really like making Christmas wishes come true.

He thought it would be fun to hide once more for you to find him. He knows that once you touch him, he’ll lose his magic so that you can fly and that’s okay! That is what he really wants! He wants you to definitely play with him and treat him like a member of the family from now until Christmas. I’ll pick him up when I visit your house on Christmas Eve and he will ride back to the North Pole in my sleigh to invest the rest of the year together with his elf family.

I will still keep watch on you, much like I always have, to ascertain if you’re on the Nice list or the Naughty list this season. Please use this Advent season to organize for the celebration of Jesus being born and always, always treat others the way Jesus would want you to treat them. That’s what Christmas is about! I will be watching to see if you’re kind and caring towards others. Merry Christmas and enjoy your time with George Elf!

Santa Claus

Luckily, Heins’ girls embraced George’s retirement.

“I’m happy to report that they are absolutely THRILLED!!” Heins said in a Dec. 4 follow-up post. “They think it’s so special that George wants to be part of our family. He definitely got the royal treatment today, including his very own bed contributing to 52 bedtime stories. -?So happy that all of the magic is still intact but [my husband] Roy and that i obtain a bit of a breather this year!! Yay for love, laughter, and family memories!”

And despite the fact that Heins will not be participating in the Elf on the Shelf anymore, she had only respect for individuals who do.

“Absolutely nothing against this tradition for individuals who like it!” Heins said.?”This is just a good fit for our family!?I really hope I have found a means (kind of a cheater way) to sort of keep it going, but take a little pressure off simultaneously. -?Wishing you the same this holiday season, whatever that looks like for the family!”
